My first baby was a vaginal delivery and as weird as it sounds I was really looking forward to labor again. Well here we are at 37 weeks with a baby that won’t flip so it looks like I’m going to have a c section.
I know it’s not the worst thing in the world and ultimately what matters is that baby and I are safe and healthy but I’m feeling so emotional about it. I never imagined having to “grieve” the birth experience I thought I’d have, and I’m so nervous for surgery.
I know I’m being a little dramatic but would love to hear positive stories from moms who have been through this too❤️

Has you doctor tried to do an inversion? Also, look into doing Spinning Babies at home! Will your doctor do an ultrasound before your c-section in case baby flipped back head down?

@angelahr18,
I’ve been doing spinning babies, version is scheduled for tomorrow but they aren’t super optimistic because baby is big and I have low fluid

With my first pregnancy I always pictured myself having a vaginal delivery but my son was breech I went through the same grieving process of my birth not being what I pictured in my head. But I had the best c section experience and healed so well. About to have my second son and opted in for another c section. Birth looks and feels like so many different things after all was said and done I don’t feel like I missed out at all because I had a beautiful happy healthy son.

I feel this. I don’t have a positive story as I’m 34 weeks and FTM, but sending this to you in solidarity. Baby has been frank breech the entire pregnancy. She seems super comfortable and in my heart, I feel like for whatever reason she won’t turn in time. I just started seeing a chiropractor and I’m scheduled for acupuncture and moxibustion, all while doing spinning baby exercises at home. My husband and I attended a 2-day birthing class and c-sections were discussed but not to the degree that vaginal deliveries were. We spent time and money attending that class. Overall, I am also grieving the birth I thought I would have while simultaneously feeling like I’m going to all of these appointments and spending time and money and stressing over all of it paying off and her turning in time when I just feel like I’m going to have a c-section anyways. Even feeling and knowing all of this, I still haven’t come to terms yet about the strong possibility of having a c-section….

@jseym002,
I have the similar story with my first. I tried acupuncture with my first and moxibustion but didn’t have any luck. The baby seemed so comfortable so I turned down the ECV. The c section for me went really great. I just wanted to warn you that when there are Frank breech, like mine was, they often come out looking like they are doing splits with their legs over their head, but don’t worry, they will return to normal it’s just a little strange looking if you’re not prepared. There are some good TikTok or YouTube videos to prepare you

doesn't sound dramatic at all to me ❤️
my first was a breech c sectio at 39 weeks, and I grieved it for years. I still wish I had waited longer to see if she would flip, honestly.
it was a picture-perfect section, thank God, no issues and fast healing, and I was so sad about it. I was very excited to be in labor and birth my baby on my own. In the end, it was fine, but only that.
I got a vbac with my second 21 months later, and I swear it was magical (lmao - that MIGHT be dramatic). I was induced by Foley bulb and from bulb in to baby out it was 12 hours. It was awesome, and my only regret is not getting a mirror because she was born too fast.
for my third, I was wishy, washy. I had a feeling something would go wrong. we went in for induction at 41 weeks after I was in labor all day and sure enough, he was breech which is why I was making no progress at home (contractions would be 5 mins apart for an hour then fizzle).
we were going to try ecv, but it freaked me out, and I felt hesitant about it, but then my water broke with meconium in it, and we went off for an urgent c section. Recovery from that one was less great. I was puffed up from them trying to stop my labor for an ecv in the morning and exhausted from being in labor almost all day by the time the section was over. I was pale and awful looking and feeling. BUT they did save my baby's life. He came out and was quiet, and they had a whole team to take him for special care if he'd aspirated meconium - which thankfully he didn't, but he was in distress.
this time, I'm praying for a vbac. If baby stays head down, I want a vaginal birth and possibly a mirror this time. lol I'm very excited to potentially do labor again. My labor with my induced vbac wasn't bad until 7 or 8 cm, which was when I got the epidural, and I really just was quiet and chill and enjoyed the process (mostly).
sorry this was so long. If you need a c section, it isn't a huge deal, but it is definitely okay to grieve. It is okay to be sad about it. ❤️

A friend of a friend had her baby flip between the ultrasound the day before his birth and the c section the next morning.
Definitely worth trying spinning babies and ask to make sure they check before hand.

I had a c section at 39 weeks due to my daughter being breech and I had a great experience. I don’t regret it one bit. It was so calm and I recovered well and I also loved that I didn’t have to be in labor for hours and hours.

No, I am not letting you give up that easy. This is what I want you to do.
Firstly, that c-section scheduled at 39 weeks (I’m assuming) ? It’s an ECV… and if it doesn’t work, then you can have your c-section. But try the ECV first.
Ok, now that we got that appt fixed, you got TWO WEEKS, girlie!
Do NOT, I repeat, DO NOT recline when sitting.. this creates more space up top & baby is gonna want to face the wrong way. We gotta make more space down low. Think birth ball hip circles, butterfly sit, sumo squats.
Of course you know the next thing I’m gonna say: inversions! Anything where your hips are above your chest. Elevated bridge pose, downward dog, any variation thereof… and also my friend says cat/cow pose.
Ok so here’s where I can’t give you advice - we flipped mine when I was doing an inversion & I felt him come out of my pelvis. Don’t do that. I guess there’s some risk involved… but! If you do feel baby come out of your pelvis, maybe get an ice pack or something & encourage them to move away?
People have also said lights, music, etc to try and get them to move but idk that that’ll work. ♀️
You have two weeks! At least let yourself try. Then you’ll know you did what you could. I mean don’t go crazy about it.. but it’s worth a shot. And if not, then c section it is.. idk people have different opinions & of course I have nothing against moms who have had c-sections… but I personally would want to do every other thing first … and only as a last resort we’re both about to die kinda thing :P

@DesertLadybug,
I’m definitely trying all the things! Sitting on a ball all day while working, spinning babies, ECV with epidural scheduled for tomorrow (originally it was at 39 weeks but my ultrasound today revealed decreasing fluid and a big baby so I didn’t want to wait and risk it) praying for the flip!!
