This immersive pre-conference workshop is designed to help you prepare for the Student Affairs Educator Certification Exam. Focusing on the eight Student Affairs Educator Certification Domains, join other mid-to-senior-level student affairs educators in a boot camp that will provide a sample of literature, an understanding of skills, and additional resources for your preparation to pass the assessment.

 | NASPA has been approved by the Higher Education Consortium for Student Affairs Certification to provide CE credit for Certified Student Affairs Educators (CSAEd). Programs that qualify for CE credit in this program are clearly identified. NASPA is solely responsible for all aspects of this program. To receive CSAEd credit for the 2024 NASPA Mid-level Administrators Conference, please complete and submit the Certified Student Affairs Educators Request Form. In addition, attendees must complete the online conference evaluation, which will be emailed to you shortly after the conference. A PDF certificate will be sent via email after the form has been processed. Certificants who attend the 2024 NASPA Mid-level Administrators Conference (MLAC) can earn up to 13 credit hours CSAEd Core or a maximum of 3 credit hours for CSAEd SJI, depending on what sessions they attend during the event. |

In June 2024, NASPA will present the 2024 NASPA Mid-level Administrators Conference (MLAC), a dynamic professional event designed to provide mid-level student affairs professionals with the opportunity to engage with colleagues and senior student affairs administrators. The Mid-level Administrators Conference is designed for those student affairs professionals who serve in roles between (but not including) entry-level positions and AVP (and the equivalent) roles. Additionally, professionals who have been serving in entry-level roles for at least 5 years are welcome to attend.
The committee is particularly interested to review submissions related to the following topics and content areas:
Thriving in the mid-level role: Strategies for addressing the challenges and complexities of the position
Meeting the needs and supporting diverse mid-level administrators
Professional development and growth in the mid-level role
Supervision and mentorship
Talent management including staff recruitment and retention
Advancing equity, diversity, inclusion, and social justice in student affairs and on our campuses
Enhancing health, well-being, and the quality of life for students, staff, and faculty
Facilitating collaborations with other departments and faculty
Understanding, navigating, and influencing institutional culture and politics
Leading strategic planning, organizational change, and resource management efforts
Conflict resolution and how to handle difficult conversations

Program Proposal Submission Criteria
Reviewers will consider proposals that meet these standards:
The presenter(s) currently occupies a mid-level (or higher) position at their institution.
The program has a conceptually strong foundation and is well-written with clearly stated outcomes.
The proposed session format is engaging, involves audience interaction, and stimulates discussion.
The presenter(s) is qualified and demonstrates expertise in the subject matter.
Content Level
The Planning Committee recognizes that the conference will attract members at different stages of their mid-level career. As such, below are the descriptions of the three acceptable content levels.
Foundational programs are designed for professionals who are relatively new to the session subject matter. These sessions are basic in nature and introduce new or unfamiliar trends, issues, or practices and/or research in the field.
Intermediateprograms are designed for professionals who have some experience or expertise in the session subject matter. These sessions typically explore emerging trends and issues and may also deepen practices and/or research in the field.
Advancedprograms are designed for professionals who have extensive experience and/or content expertise in the session subject matter. These sessions will focus on practices and research that advance the field.
Session Formats
Reviewers will consider proposals for sessions of a variety of types and formats:
General Interest Session:These50-minuteofferings will take place throughout the conference and should have rich content and a degree of audience interaction and engagement. These sessions may have a variety of formats including a panel discussion, an interactive workshop, an engaging lecture/presentation, or other. All formats should allow for some audience interaction and engagement.
Pre-conference Workshop:These two-hour offerings will take place during the morning of Thursday, June 13 prior to the official start of the conference later that day. They should have very rich content and a significant amount of audience interaction and engagement. Pre-conference Workshops should have some practical/application/skill-building elements.
Notification
Presenters will be notified of their program status byFebruary 20, 2024and session details (date, time, location) will be shared byMarch 15, 2024.
All presenters must be registered for the in-person conference. There will not be any virtual presentation opportunities.
- All presenters will be expected to pay for all the fees associated with attending the conference.
- All presenters will be expected to provide an electronic copy of their presentationwhich will be posted on the conference app for participants to view afterwards.
- Presenters and co-presenters who are AVPs (or the equivalent)whose proposals are acceptedmustregister for the conference in order to present:
- Presenters and co-presenterswho are AVPs (or the equivalent)whose proposals are accepted whodo not wish to attendthe full conference will be granted a complimentary presenter pass in order to attend only the session they are presenting.
- Presenters and co-presenterswho are AVPs (or the equivalent)whose proposals are accepted whowish to attendthe full conference will receive a 25% discount of their registration fee. All presenters will be expected to paythe other fees associated with attending the conference.

Draft and save your work in a word processing program to ensure you keep a copy for your records. When you are ready, copy and paste your description into the appropriate textbox.
Please provide enough details so that program reviewers can understand the breadth, depth, and scope of your program. This description will not be printed in the program book, website, or otherwise.

The 2024NASPA Mid-level Administrators Conference Planning Committee will meet to select programs January 26 - February 9, so please note there will be no opportunities to extend the review period beyond January 25. We recommend that you block time on your calendar between January 12-25, 2024, to complete your reviews, allowing time to thoroughly read 5-10 proposals and provide thoughtful feedback.Reviewer comments will be shared anonymously with submitters for their consideration.
